The stratosphere is the better of the two, but both are kind of trashy.





The stratosphere is on the strip, but in a bad neighborhood and not within walking distance of many attractions.
If those are your only 2 choices, I'd choose Stratosphere. It's a nice place, but in a pretty bad location. It IS closer to the strip though, and that's where all the action is. Golden Nugget is downtown, which is a fun place to hang out for a few hours, but not really the best part of Vegas to stay in.



If your choices are strictly based on your budget, I'd look into the rates at Luxor, Excalibur, Tropicana, and Imperial Palace. They aren't super nice places by any means, but they are usually pretty cheap and are in far better locations than either Golden Nugget or Strat.Where to stay in las vegas? If I were forced to choose from those two, it would be the Golden Nugget.



Yes, its downtown but the most "Strip-like" of all the hotel casinos there and in the middle of the action in that part of town.



The Strat is on Las Vegas Blvd and still considered part of the Strip, but just barely. Since the Sahara closed down, there is NOTHING within walking distance other than Circus Circus and the Riv and even then they are not all that close.



JMHO but there are better Strip choices out there......
Look-over your budget!
Downtown for the cheap.
Las Vegas Strip for the money no problem crowd.
Stratosphere is kinda on the cheap. Is on the strip! A bus stops in front of it on Las Vegas Blvd!

I would recommend that you stay on the Strip. DT Fremont isn't a very good area. Staying on the strip will be safer and more convenient for you since the majority of shows and attractions are located on the strip.

Located right on the Las Vegas Strip, the Stratosphere Tower Casino %26amp; Resort houses over 2,000 guest rooms and suites.
Stratosphere is NOT on Strip and not nice walk. Closest other casino is Circus Circus and Riveria. But then I don't like Downtown and I am a local. I would stay at Excalibur if looking for a deal
