Shuttle...for taxi it'll cost you more due to traffic. Unless you're very lucky to get a kick azz driver who knows what they're doing and knows the back and fasts way to get there in a jiffy.
some do yes, but ask the shuttle info for where they're going or how far. most of the time if it's not too much trouble they'll be nice enough to drop you off in front of the hotel or a short desdent :)

From airport to golden nugget hotel: shuttle or taxi?I agree with "Aubrey A"
A 24 hour CAT/Deuce bus pass only costs $7
You can take either the #108 Paradise or #109 Maryland Pkwy North* bus to downtown %26gt;Unless they have changed the routes%26lt;. I have driven out the past 3 years and haven't taken the bus in a while.
*The #109 Maryland Parkway South bus goes out to the South Strip Transportation Terminal. Which if you're arriving after dark and want a cool view of the strip isn't such a bad way to go either. Because you can transfer to the Deuce(double decker strip bus). It's generally pretty empty at that point so you can take one of the prime seats on the upper level in front. You will have a great view of the hotels/lights/etc as this bus takes you downtown.
Bus - at the airport go to "Ground Level Transportation 0" which is on your right as you approach the baggage claim area. The bus stop is just out the door and to your right. They used to stop about every 5 minutes, the bus is never crowded. Since the only riders are generally airport employees. Either bus takes about 45 minutes. %26gt;I have waited much longer than that just to catch a cab at the airport%26lt; The only hitch to this plan is the bus only allows carry-on luggage, but if you travel light, this is the best way to go IMO
If you take a cab and if they rip you off(McCarran to downtown %26gt;like they did my brother 2 months ago%26lt; At least be smarter than he was. Have the TA phone number on you 1-702-668-4000 do not pay the fare. Call the TA from the cab. The cabbie can get fined or his license suspended for "long hauling" a fare.
Out of those two a shuttle would definitely be cheaper. It would only run about $7 each way so $14 total. A cab would cost at least $36 and that is if the taxi driver doesn't try to long haul you in order to charge you more.
But the best option would be to take public transportation from the airport straight to downtown. See here http://www.rtcsnv.com/transit/route/108/鈥?/a> Fremont St is the downtown stop you want to take. Bus route #108 will take you straight downtown and will get you there in about 45 minutes. The cost would only be $5 each way.
I just returned from Vegas.... I took a taxi from the airpot to The Wynn.. it cost $17.... dont take the Tunnel, use Paradise Rd to avoid main Strip.. after a long flight, it is nice to relax and take a cab. good luck and take lots of CASH.
The best way to arrive at the Gold Nugget hotel/casino from the airport is by shuttle.
The taxi costs to much.
Shuttle!
