Is it still a bad idea to stay at the Golden Nugget in Vegas?

Have they finished renovating it? Do you know of any promo codes or freebies? Any suggestions for a first time visitor? Thanks so much in advance for your answers! Is it still a bad idea to stay at the Golden Nugget in Vegas?
I wouldn't say so. They re-did their pool making it one of the best in Las Vegas. The only downside to the Golden Nugget is its location. Don't get me wrong...I love Fremont Street but if you plan to be on the strip a lot it may cause to be a pain.

I know of no promo coded but typically TripRes.com is a great place to look for values!!!!!!!
If you really want to stay downtown then it is the nicest hotel downtown.

You need to decide if downtown is what you want because for the same price as Golden Nugget you can get a room on the strip or off-strip.

Most of the renovations are done and the new pool area is very nice.Is it still a bad idea to stay at the Golden Nugget in Vegas?
Going next week for my second time, stay on the strip a few times but perfer it there Golden Nugget is a very nice hotel and heard even more so now......Dont know of any special deals I booked directly with the hotel......Its really cheaper to gamble downtown then on the strip and I love the light show at night its a whole differen kinda atmosphere...
Their new pool is amazing!!! There are a few new restaurants as well that are done. I don't know why but I always end up eating at the Carson Cafe. And I know the valet area is done as well. I don't think they had any other renovations. I personally always stay here, its less crowded but definitely a nice hotel. Plus if I want to go to the strip its only 5-10 minutes away.
The Golden Nugget is a great hotel at a good price.
I stayed there before and it is not a bad place at all. They were almost finished with their new pool the last time that I had been there. They made the pool so it is surrounded by a shark filled aquarium, it is awesome. The rooms are pretty nice in this hotel as long as you request to stay in the newer tower and they have their own entertainment and restaurants. I thought it was nice, and relatively less expensive than the strip hotels.
The Gold Nugget is the top of the line in Vegas. It is the nicest hotel downtown. Also one of the most expensive down town. We stayed at the 4 Queens last month and we were really impressed with the room. Not a huge room but was decorated very nice.
Renovations are completed. Pool is nothing short of amazing. Hotel rocks, deserves to be on the Strip.

Very very crowded though and still downtown :(
it is the nicest place to stay downtown. I really like the hotel.
