Should I stay at the Golden Nugget (South Tower) or the Orleans?

I need to spend a couple of nights in LV at the tail end of a trip, and want to do it on the cheap. Apparently these two hotels can each be had for $40 a night, and I'm trying to decide between them. Your suggestions?Should I stay at the Golden Nugget (South Tower) or the Orleans?
Well the $40 room at the GN don't have a view, but if you pay $15 more you can get above the parking garage and get a nice view of the city. The GN is much higher rated hotel (AAA 4 diamonds) than the Orleans (AAA 3 diamond). GN has a very nice pool.

==============

The GN has 2400 rooms on a 12 acre piece of property, while the Orleans has 1800 rooms and an arena on an 80 acre piece of property, so GN has a much more urban feel. Orleans is surrounded by a large parking lot, it has a movie theater, and is popular with local Las Vegans. If there is a good show or concert at the arena it might tip the balance towards Orleans.

If you are concerned with money then GN could actually cost less, because you can easily walk to dozens of super cheap places to eat and gamble. But dining inside GN can be more expensive than Orleans.

Either casino is about 3.5 miles from The Wynn, but from Orleans it is about 1.5 miles to Las Vegas Blvd (shuttle buses are available). You can walk to Aria from Orleans (east on Tropicana, left at Polaris before Wild Wild West) go 2 blocks, and make a right on Harmon Avenue (cross I-15 and enter complex). Distance to Aria is about 1.8 miles.
Hi Z, I usually stay at the orleans because i get free rooms when i stay in vegas. Its a good casino, restaurants are good! I just recently went downtown to the golden nugget walking through the casino and i liked it alot!! It is the best hotel downtown vegas and if you had the choice of staying at the GN for $40 bucks a night i would go with the nugget over the orleans but like i said i get free rooms at Orleans!Should I stay at the Golden Nugget (South Tower) or the Orleans?
Hi,

I would go with downtown and the Fremont Street Experience. I would think that you will enjoy at the Nugget. For information about what Las vegas Downtown has to offer check out this site.

Hope this helps.
Interesting choices. The Golden Nugget would put you downtown. The Orleans has nothing around it and would be a pain going to and from the strip. At least with the Golden Nugget you will have all of downtown to enjoy.
Golden Nugget is definitely a better choice. The rooms are nicer and cleaner. The hotel is in the middle of all the downtown action and when you need to get to the strip, the deuce will take you there and back. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/golden-nu鈥?/a>
