I'm planning on staying at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas...?

any pros or cons?I'm planning on staying at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas...?
I think it's a great place if you like classic las vegas.
It's the nicest hotel in downtown Las Vegas but it doesn't compare with the luxury resorts on the Las Vegas strip.

Pros:

It's very clean.

There are some good mid-level food choices.

It's affordable.

The table minimums are reasonable. (you can play blackjack for $5 per hand.)

Friendly service.

Within walking distance to a dozen other casinos.

The swimming pool is amazing.

Cons:

Downtown Vegas isn't as glitzy as the strip -- you'll have to take a taxi to get to the strip -- the location problem is the biggest strike against the Nugget.I'm planning on staying at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas...?
Steve Wynn bought an interest in the Golden Nugget years ago and it was his idea to convert it into the luxury property it is. No other Fremont Street or downtown area properties are considered "upscale."

If you gamble 10 hours a day then you're in the right area. The downtown casinos offer better odds for players.

You're two miles from the north end of the strip (Las Vegas Blvd) though and about four miles from the center strip. So if you're not a serious gambler you may want to stay at one of Steve Wynn's strip properties instead... Wynn or Encore.

Bellagio, Mirage and Treasure Island are "ex" Wynn properties. All three were sold to MGM Mirage... and MGM Mirage sold TI to Phill Ruffin last year for $775 million.
The good part is that you aren't on the Strip. I prefer the downtown casinos, since they offer better odds for gamblers than the Strip casinos which cater more to tourists than gamblers. Plus the casinos downtown are closer together, so you can see more casinos in a shorter period of time than the strip. It's also the nicest of the downtown hotels.

If you're going to do touristy Strip stuff, it's kind of out of the way.
Wynn hasn't owned the Golden Nugget for years. Here are the real facts: http://www.lvrj.com/business/10499257.ht鈥?/a>

The downside is LOCATION. It's not on the Strip. For some that is a plus as they like "Old Vegas". For me it's not, I like the Strip.

It's a nice hotel, and good value for the money you'll spend.
Bad part is it is downtown Vegas. The property itself is first class and the pool is always crowded which is both good and bad.
THe worst part is that its downtown not on the newer strip...The best part is the pool. We stayed there this summer and it was awesome..Water slide and shark tank what more do i need to say...
