Feeding you the upgrade line is part of their training and it's a way for the hotel to make extra buck in a slow economy. Next time, just book online. There is some much to do at the hotel and on Fremont street, you will end up spending very little time in your room. The good thing is that Golden Nugget is one of the best hotels downtown. If you feel you were sucked into an upgrade, you can always call them back and cancel and re-book. You can do that anytime as long as it's 48 hours before your check-in time.

The South tower is a little further walk than the North tower. I like the view from the higher floors. The South tower is 22 floors high, and the buildings immediately behind it are 10-12 stories. From the higher floors you can see all the way to the strip. It's more pleasant to sit in your room and enjoy a drink and see something. I think it is well worth $10. As was pointed out earlier you pay $40-$50 extra on the strip to get a room where you can see the strip. At the Golden Nugget hotel in Las Vegas, is the $10 extra a night for the view worth it?
It is worth it. It will allow you to be up above the surrounding buildings so you will have a good view. That is not much to pay to get a room with a view. On the strip you would have to pay much much more per night.
No it is worth it to get a look at the city. Some beautiful sunrises and sunsets depending ont he direction of your room.
Enjoy the visit.
