We are thinking about staying at the Golden Nugget or the Harrahs. Out of them two what one do you think is better and why? We Will be going in April and staying for six night. This will be our first time going. My husband and I are going to Vegas. We have two hotels that we are think about staying at what do you think?
Harrahs-- because of the location. GN is actually a much more upscale hotel, but it's downtown. Downtown Vegas is very cheesy and rundown. Harrahs on the otherhand, has probably the best location on the strip. Its right in the center of all the action, and has one of the most fun bars in all of Vegas-- Carnival Court.
I prefer Harrahs, only because there is a Harrah's 10 minutes from my home and I spend a fair amount of money there and am usually comped several nights at Harrah's hotels. My husband and I are going to Vegas. We have two hotels that we are think about staying at what do you think?
Harrahs. I live here now. But when on the east coast used to come for visits and planning my move.
Gold Nug. is a dump Went for a discount buffet with the ex wife.
The food was awful Service was non existent.
Avoid this place at all costs.
It really is a f minus hotel.
Check trip advisor.
Harrah's with no doubt.
Harrah's is at the strip and that is where most of the excitement is.
I would say go and see the golden nugget, but don't spend the night there. LOL. Its not in a good area and its not in that good of shapre.
Have fun and live it up! You will love it.
Harrah's is centrally located on the strip. You will have great access to almost all casinos and sights and short walking distances to most of them too. It is the better of your two choices. The Golden Nugget is located downtown Las Vegas under the Fremont St. Experience canopy. You will be far from all the action unless you have a car or patience to wait for a casino shuttle, cab or bus. Also, it's not exactly located in the best part of town. While it's still a very nice casino, for the money, stay at Harrah's and get the maximum enjoyment.
Another vote for Harrah's. I've stayed there three times. It's right in the middle of everything. It's a lot less expensive than most of the other hotels in middle of the strip. I'd stay there again.
The plus side of Harrah's is that it is in the middle of the strip. It all depends on what you want. I go to Vegas quite frequently and I don't see the Golden Nugget as a dump or in a bad part of town. The Golden Nugget is much more upscale than Harrah's.
Definitely stay at Harrahs. It's right in the middle of the strip and close to everything. A cab ride to any other casino on the strip shouldn't be much more than $8 w/ tip, and the other casinos are pretty much in walking distance anyway, though it can be exhausting if you walk the whole strip.
The Golden Nugget is downtown, on the old strip, which isn't nearly as much fun as the new strip (where Harrahs is). While I wouldn't go as far as saying that I don't feel safe downtown, there are lots of homeless lookking people down there, plus it's lots smaller and has many fewer attractions than the new strip. With that said, rooms downtown are often much cheaper and you can take a cab ride to the new strip for $15-20 depending on the traffic.
If you're into the club scene, hit up Pure at Ceasars - had the time of my life there!
golden nugget is downtown not much walking, was a very nice classy hotel in it's day, recently renovated and new pool area...harrah's is center strip right across from the mirage.caesar's palace, ti, i've stayed there it's nothing fancy, but how much time do you want to spend in your room? the rooms are clean and decently decorated althoough i felt the bathrooms were smaller than normal...mirage has an excellent buffet, ti has a nice cafe, deli, harrah's pool is way out of the way and nothing special, flamingo is in the same area , 1 hotel/ casino down from harrah's same price, maybe cheaper, good buffet, beautiful pool area.....harrah's is on the monorail line..one of the stations in fact....which could be a plus....getting ready to go myself in April.
